Sky Hawk IMC6371 SFF PC Review

Small Form Factor PCs are great for lan parties and home theaters. They can also be stylish mid and full tower replacements. After all, not everyone needs a powerhouse computer--just ask your mother. In this review, KaoMAN examines the Sky Hawk IMC6371 small form factor PC, and finds a lot to like, as well as a few caveats.

With the introduction of Intel's LGA 755 socket, the 478 platform has begun to enter retirement. Performance-wise, there is no difference between the two sockets. In terms of accompanying Intel chipsets, the 925 and 915 parallel the 875 and 865 in price and performance. You can bet there are a plethora of Socket 755 SFF PCs available.

Should you still be interested in a 478 setup then? Well, depending on your situation, retirement of the 478 platform could be a blessing. Those looking to scrap together old parts to play a little Half-Life 2 on the big screen TV will love 478 SFF PCs. Having an idle P4 2.4B, Radeon 9600, PCI TV Tuner, and 13GB hard drive, I was in that exact position.

Today, we'll review the Sky Hawk IMC6371 barebone system. This SFF PC uses the Intel 865G 'Springdale' and ICH5 I/O chipsets. With standard features like onboard 5.1 sound and 10/100 LAN, is the IMC6371 the right SFF PC for you?
