HP Pavilion Elite E9220y and Dell Inspiron i545s-3055NBK - Pavilion Elite Options and Design
(Page 2 of 4 )
The Elite E9220y is a retail configuration desktop, but it does have some expansion options should you wish to upgrade it after purchase. The only problem with the expansion possibilities is their accessibility. This mostly pertains to those who wish to add a second or third hard drive to the desktop, as the two empty hard drive slots are somewhat blocked by a vacant Personal Media drive bay.
Other than that, you get extra expansion possibilities in the form of one 16x PCI Express slot, three 1x PCI Express slots, and a 1x PCI Express Mini Card slot. You also have the option to upgrade the 8 GB of RAM that comes standard on the desktop all the way up to 16 GB.
The design and look of the HP Pavilion Elite E9220y is one that should fit nicely into any home or office. It measures 15.8 inches tall by 7.1 inches wide by 16.9 inches deep and weighs 13 pounds. Its exterior has a black matte finish with the exception of its front panel, which is covered in a flashy glossy black finish with chrome accents.
In terms of connectivity, the top of the front panel houses two USB ports as well as a media card reader with the aforementioned DVD drive below it. The back panel houses a VGA port, a HDMI port, a DVI port, an Ethernet port, six more USB ports, a FireWire port, an optical audio output, and additional audio ports.
It can be said that the HP Pavilion Elite E9220y is a decent desktop for casual users. However, is it worth its price tag? The answer to that question is no. Simply put, there are other desktops on the market that are not only cheaper, but can also provide faster performance and easier expansion options. That being said, you will probably want to give the Elite E9220y a pass, as its bloated price does not equal its value, and it does not live up to its Elite moniker.
