Gateway SX2840-01 and the HP Pavilion Slimline s5310y - HP Design
(Page 4 of 4 )
The look of the Slimline s5310y is mostly standard. It does live up to its name, as it is slim and not as large as some other towers out there. The system measures 12.2 inches tall by 15.9 inches deep by 4.4 inches wide and weighs 9.2 pounds. Its size allows you to place it in areas where space is at a premium. The tower has a black exterior, with its front panel boasting a glossy black finish with some chrome and silver accents.
The front panel houses the DVD drive, and some connectivity exists on the bottom of the front panel in the form of the media reader, a microphone jack, and two USB ports. The back panel houses a VGA port, four more USB ports, an Ethernet port, and audio jacks. Unfortunately, there is no HDMI connection, so if you want to connect the s5310y to your HDTV you will need to install a 3D graphics card with a HDMI port. There are also no FireWire or eSATA ports, making the system's connectivity a bit underwhelming.
Simply put, the HP Pavilion Slimline s5310y is not the best budget desktop available. Its performance is decent, but it is lacking in Wi-Fi, expandability, and has no HDMI port. Its price is nice, but you are better off shopping around and looking at what's out on the market before you spend your hard-earned money on the Slimline s5310y.
