Gateway One Desktop PC Rivals the iMac - Features

    Features

    Processor and OS

Gateway has chosen an Intel Core 2 Duo T7250 2 GHz processor to use in the One. The One comes equipped with 3 GB of memory, and a 500 GB hard drive. The One features the Windows Vista operating system and Microsoft Works software. The OS is one area where the Mac probably beats out the One. Most people seem to prefer Mac OS X over Windows Vista.

    Wireless Options

The Gateway One features built-in Wi-Fi capability. This eliminates the need for an Ethernet cable. The Gateway One will seek out 802.11n networks and provide wireless Internet for the user.

Unfortunately, the Gateway One does not have built-in Bluetooth capabilities like the iMac does. You can hook up Bluetooth externally to the One, but it will cost extra for hardware.

    Hard Drive Expansion

A huge advantage of the Gateway One over other all-in-one computers is the hard drive expansion capabilities. The One's monitor opens up, like the hood of a car, revealing the insides of the computer. From there, you can just slide an additional hard drive into the correct port, and it just snaps in place. It couldn't be any easier to install an additional hard drive.

    Included TV tuner

Gateway has included a TV tuner and remote with the One, so you can watch TV on the 19 inch monitor. This is especially useful for smaller apartments or offices where a TV cannot fit. The 19 inch LCD screen has a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, and an 8 ms response time. These figures make this monitor a good choice for viewing television or watching a DVD. Independent tests have shown some minor contrast problems while viewing movies, but nothing major. Television can be viewed in both standard and HD quality.
