Gateway M-6834 - Laptop Overview continued

On the right, we find the thirdUSB port and the optical media bay. It’s sad that we only get three USB ports. I seem to have many little gadgets that use USB. I’m not sure if you do or not, but three really doesn’t cut it for me. The optical bay is a DVD burner as well as a CD burner. It has your standard features as well as LabelFlash. I had never heard of this technology before, so after a little Googling I learned that it was similar to LightScribe. Currently, LabelFlash discs are twice as much as LightScribe discs. It’s a nice feature, but I’m not sure I’ll ever use it.

On the back, we find the power connector, modem, and VAG out for external monitor support. Yawn, nothing interesting.

The display is a glossy, 15.4” widescreen. I much prefer it to the antiglare, but you can still get a bad glare in certain environments.

The AC adapter is the same connection size as a lot of previous Gateway computers. I have an older 6020GZ lying around that has the same adapter size. Thumbs up to Gateway for continuing to make a plug that will work on a variety of computers.

As far as size and weight are concerned, I would say it is run of the mill. I do notice significant weight distribution to the upper part of the computer, which is probably due to the battery. It's nothing to be worried about though.
