Dell Inspiron Zino HD and the HP Pavilion All-in-One MS225 - Zino OS and Other Features

As for the operating system, Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit comes pre-installed, rather than Vista, which comes with the most basic configuration. It should be noted that if you are big on upgrading computers yourself, such a task might be hard with the Zino HD, as it its interior is not easily accessible as with normal-sized desktops. Make sure that when you are ordering online that you pick all the necessary upgrades at once, or you may be stuck with a system that does not suit your needs and could very well be hard to change after the fact.

Besides its core components, the Zino HD has some extras available too. You can choose to have 802.11n Wi-Fi for connecting to the fastest wireless networks. There is also a DVD drive for watching DVDs and listening to and burning CDs. A 4-in-1 memory card reader is included for transferring data quickly from other devices. Extras like a TV tuner or even a monitor will cost you more.

The look and design of the Inspiron Zino HD is what makes it stand out from larger desktop towers. It's a mini desktop that can fit in any room without calling too much attention to itself or taking up a lot of valuable space. While it looks similar to a Mac Mini, it is a bit larger; it measures 3.4 inches tall by 7.8 inches wide by 7.8 inches deep and weighs 3.5 pounds. Its plastic exterior comes standard in a Piano Black theme, but starting at $15 more you can choose an interchangeable top plate from such colors as Tangerine Orange, Promise Pink, and more.

The Zino HD's connectivity is good. Its front panel has two USB ports, the memory card reader, and a headphone jack. The back houses an HDMI port for connecting the desktop to your HDTV, two more USB ports, an Ethernet port, two eSATA ports, a RJ45 port, and microphone and line out jacks.

The Dell Inspiron HD's compact size should attract many potential buyers. Its $249 starting price is very affordable, but if you start to upgrade its components, as you should, the price can balloon in a hurry. That said, if you really enjoy its design, you will more than likely be willing to pay more for its space-saving size. Take note that some customers have complained that Dell has taken a while to ship many of their Zino HDs, so if you need it in a hurry you might have to be patient.
