Asus K60I-RBBBR05 and the Toshiba Satellite L505-ES5018

Here's a tale of two laptops, both priced at $500 -- the Asus K60I-RBBBR05 and the Toshiba Satellite L505-ES5018. Both of them provide excellent performance for the price. If you're looking for a budget laptop that delivers, these two are worth considering.

    Asus K60I-RBBBR05

The Asus K60I-RBBBR05 is a 16-inch retail laptop that comes with a full feature set and satisfactory performance. While it is not excessively impressive in any way, its affordable price makes it an attractive buy for mainstream users. The K60I-RBBBR05 is available for a little over $500 and comes with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.

The K60I-RBBBR05 comes with a 2.2 GHz Intel Pentium T4400 processor with 1 MB of L2 cache. While this processor is not as good as the Core i3 or i5 processors found in other laptops on the market, its dual-core technology is still good enough to give the laptop solid performance.

Casual users should find its performance speedy enough when doing common tasks like emailing, web surfing, instant messaging, multimedia viewing, and more. If you do value top performance, you should probably shop around for a different laptop with a more high-end processor, but be prepared to spend more. To help with multitasking, 4 GB of DDR2 SDRAM is also included.

Plenty of storage space is available with the Asus K60I-RBBBR05's 500 GB hard drive. Its graphics are supported by an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD card. Battery life on the K60I-RBBBR05 is good, with its six-cell battery providing over three hours of usage when fully charged. For the operating system, you get Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit.
