Apple Mac Book Pro - Built-in Webcam: Cool!

I finally decided to test the webcam (iSight Camera). I went over to my dad's office and picked up a LAN cable lying in a bunch. I hooked it up to the main hub and plugged it in.

I immediately began to surf the web. As I was surfing the web, I saw a strange looking object at the top of the TFT display. I didn't recognize it until I traced back something I had read on the Apple website. I opened iChat AV and signed up. I enjoyed the video chat because it was virtually seamless. This was because I didn't have to configure or buy any hardware. This was a much better experience than Windows XP on a PC.

    Other Neat Stuff (Free Stuff)

I'm always happy to check out graphics editing packages. The Apple MacBook Pro comes with free  video editing software (iMovie HD) and free music editing software (Garage Band). You should check out the dirty guitars; I saw (and heard) them over at a Kanye West Concert recording.

You want more free software? The MacBook also comes with Final Cut Pro. This video editing software is exclusive to Mac users, and  it is fast becoming the video editor of choice among film studios in Nollywood (the Nigerian equivalent of Hollywood).

The MacBook also comes with a free instant messenger that I did not check out. Basically this is my choice laptop for the year.

    Pros:

    • Hardware protects itself against damage
    • Great editing software comes free with the laptop
    • Excellent graphics performance
    • Built-in webcam

    Cons:

    • No modem
    • Price (around $2,000)

On the whole, I give this laptop a 9 out of 10. The lack of a modem isn't an issue unless you're in a situation where you can't connect wirelessly. As to the price, I believe it is a very good deal for what you get, but that doesn't change the fact that you can find laptops now for $500 or less. If you do a lot of video editing, or graphics are an important part of your computer experience, you will be very happy with this laptop. If you're used to PowerBooks, you will be not only impressed, but pleasantly surprised by this laptop's performance.
