If you like to compute on the go but hate the hassle of taking along a full-fledged laptop, you might want to consider a netbook. These little machines were built to handle the basics without weighing you down. Today we'll look at a relatively new entrant to this market, the Acer Aspire 1410.
Netbooks are all the rage now. They are smaller than traditional laptops, but bigger than any hand held devices. Think of them as mini laptops. They come in a variety of sizes from seven inches on up.
Why get a small laptop? Most people user their computer for email, Internet surfing, and working with an office suite. For those tasks, no one needs a quad core, 4 GB memory computer. More people take a computer along when they travel, and when they go to get coffee. Sure, you can take your computer, along with the power cord, since the power won't last that long.
This is where netbooks shine. They are small computers that can handle the basics with ease, and can also be used all day without killing your back or arm. So without further ado, let's look at today's machine for review, the Acer Aspire 1410.
Screen

Probably one of the most important parts of the netbook is the screen. While it is what you see, it also decides the size of the keyboard and the rest of the computer. A bigger screen lets you get a bigger keyboard and more room inside the computer for hardware.
The Acer Aspire 1410 has an 11.6" screen. The typical netbook's screen is around 9-10", which is a little smaller than this. While some would consider this an ultra-portable laptop, I'd still say it's a netbook.
The larger screen also comes with a bigger-than-average resolution of 1366 x 768, big enough for 720p HD movies. It uses LED technology in the LCD to provide a very nice picture. When choosing a netbook, I wanted something compact, but I do a lot of typing so I wanted something big enough to make that activity comfortable. A 10" screen looked a little small, and 13" was too big. An 11.6" screen also gave me a full-sized keyboard, which is a huge advantage.
