ASUS L5GA Notebook Review - Hard Drive, Memory and Battery
(Page 6 of 10 )
The hard drive is significantly easier to install than the CPU. The first step is to install the hard drive within the include caddy.

Next you simply insert the caddy into the bottom of the laptop making sure the hard drive firmly plugs into the IDE connector. Screw the caddy in place and screw on the black plastic cover and the hard drive is installed.
Memory Installation
Installing the memory is somewhat involved and requires a bit of care be taken to prevent damaging the pretty L5GA.

The first step is to pop-up the panel located above the keyboard -- the one with the power and quick launch buttons on it. To do this I used a small flat-head screwdriver with a thin cloth wrapped around it to prevent scratching the cover or the keyboard's keys.

When the cover is pulled up, it reveals two screws and a small metal plate that holds the keyboard in place. Remove the screws and metal piece so the keyboard can be removed.

Once the keyboard is removed, there is a shiny metal plate with one screw that opens to show the memory slots.

Finally, here is a picture with memory installed.
Battery Installation

After installing the CPU, memory and hard drive, the battery, as you would expect, is very easy to install. The battery compartment is located on the bottom of the chassis near the front, in-between the two integrated speakers. Two plastic clips hold the cover in place and the battery only fits it to the compartment one way prevent improper installation. The battery secures itself into the compartment with two more plastic clips.
