ASUS L5GA Notebook Review - Close Ups of the L5GA

So let's take a look at the L5GA itself.  Starting from the front and moving counter-clockwise.

    asus

Front:  From the left we see the Infrared Port followed by a series of CD indicator and control buttons.  The L5GA can play audio CDs without power up the laptop the items for doing this include a small LED indicating CD player power, the CD player's ON/OFF button, Rewind button, Fast Forward button, Stop button, and the Play button.  The Rewind and Fast Forward buttons can also be used to decrease and increase the volume but only when Windows is running.

Right: a USB port, flash media card reader, optical drive (in this model a dual CDRW/DVD-ROM), 2 PC card sockets, IEEE1394 (FireWire) port, headphone output jack or front left/right speaker output that automatically disables the integrated speakers, mono microphone jack or Center/Bass output, stereo input jack (line-in) or rear left/right speaker output, and a SPDIF for digital audio output.  The L5GA utilizes programmable output jacks to allow for 5.1 analog audio output.

Rear: modem port, LAN port, parallel port, 2 USB ports, S-Video TV-Out, 15-pin monitor port, a vent hiding a small cooling fan, serial port, shutdown button, and Kensington lock port.  The shutdown button is for situations where the laptop may stop responding to the main power button or <CTRL><ALT><DEL> in Windows.  It requires a small straightened paper clip.
