AOpen EX65 SFF PC Review - The BIOS

Unlike other SFFs, the EX65 has an interesting BIOS feature set. That's because this is the first SFF BIOS we've seen with so many system tuning and overclocking options.

Although most of the BIOS options are basic Phoenix AwardBIOS menu options, there are a few worth noting:

For starters, the Advanced BIOS Features menu features both Hyper Threading and ExRestore options. The EzRestore option is of most use to those who install and test devices and applications regularly, those who would like 100% Virus protection, and those who want fast system recovery. Basically, it creates a safe backup in case of some system catastrophe.

The Advanced Chipset Features menu allows users to tune their memory timings, in addition to turn on the Performance Boost Engine (PBE).

The Frequency/Voltage Control menu allows users to control the system frequencies and voltages, which makes for easy overclocking.

Finally, the Silent BIOS/HW Monitor displays and controls the Smart Control fan feature. Note that the temperatures displayed were the system temperatures after numerous stress tests.
