PiFAST

HOORAY!!! We can see in pure number crunching is where the extra L2 shows the most benefit. Two plus seconds in PiFast is nothing to sneeze about.
2500+ OVERCLOCKING
OK, so we have tested the Barton against the T-Bred to see what benefits the extra L2 will bring you. In most gaming applications, as we've seen, not much. Now we are going to take the gloves off and put the Barton in the Peltier system to see where we can get it to go. Since we are looking at how the CPU overclocks, we will only be adjusting the multiplier to factor out any other component halting our fun...
We were able to push the 2500+ (1.83 MHz) to an even 2500 MHz (14x166) on the pelt system running @ 2V, 30C full load temps. This is just by multiplier tweaking alone, I'm sure (as I have already ran the chip over 2500 MHz) that with some FSB fine tuning, there is still a little more head room left in the chip. With the ABIT NF7, the multiplier jumps from 15 to 16. While it did boot to the desktop at 16x166 (2656 MHz) it crashed soon after. While I would have liked to inclued the 2100+ for comparison, it would not run at 2500 MHZ. The 2100+ topped out at 14x166 (2324 MHz) when pushing the multiplier. Here are some more benches for your enjoyment.
