Silverstone Temjin TJ05 Case - Conclusion

    Conclusion

A case is the biggest choice you make for cooling your computer. Your case’s design can have a big hand in airflow and heat dissipation. This Temjin 05 does a superior job at cooling and watching those temperatures for you. The price may be higher than other cases, but the money is well spent. It can be found for about $120 online, though this model has no optional features (like the temperature controller). Outfitted like the one in this review, you can find it for about $150. This is not a cheap case, but it is definitely high quality. You certainly get everything you pay for with the Silverstone TJ05.

Besides cooling, the case boasts tons of features. It has the side HDD fan spot, the hinged metal panel to mount fans and hard drives on, the customizable case layout, the toolless design, the stylish front panel, and more.

The one trade off with the big roomy case is the weight. Although the front is aluminum, the body it still heavy steel. The case is simply not designed for portability and dragging to LAN parties, but it makes one awesome home or office computer.

I think part of the appeal of the design is its simplicity. I like an understated case, and I can always add neon and make customizations later if I want to. As it is, it would fit in office environments if you wanted it to.

    Highs

    • The hinged metal panel to mount fans and hard drives on is great. The idea is unique, lets you customize your case layout, and I haven’t ever seen it on other cases.
    • LCD display is very nice and helps quiet some fans
    • Toolless design for drives and PCI cards
    • Very solid all-metal construction, roomy interior, and very cool and attractive style
    • High performance fans, and circles in the case are cut out to help their airflow
    • Packaged very well and arrived in perfect condition

    Lows

    • Drive cage could have more holes to help air flow through it (though you can remove the drive cage and let air flow straight through)
    • No removable motherboard tray, so not good for making constant system changes
    • Tool kit has no places for optical drive rails, though it’s a great idea for organizing the HDD and floppy rails.

I highly recommend this case for anyone who is building an above average system. As long as it’s not meant to go to LAN parties, this case definitely deserves the Dev Hardware stamp of approval.
