Silverstone Temjin TJ05 Case - LCD Display and Performance
(Page 8 of 9 )
LCD Display
The front temperature and fan controller has temperature leads that you can stick in your heatsinks and on your hard drive for more accurate readings than traditional motherboard readings. It also has connectors to plug into your 3-pin fans to control their speeds.
The LCD display glows brightly. If you keep it on your desk and game in the dark, it will definitely catch your eye. It wasn’t too bright, but it is certainly well lit. Unfortunately, it didn’t come out too well in my digital pictures. Here is the best shot.

The LCD monitors temperatures of your processor, system, and primary hard drive. You switch between these with the mode button. On the display, you can see on the left the date and time (in 24-hr time by default). In the middle is the fan speed, which is set to low here because the case is cool. To the right, it shows that it is set to the CPU mode and that the processor is running at 27 C (idle). Surprisingly, this is just a little above the ambient room temperature.
While I’m commenting on temperatures, I just have to mention that this case keeps the test system considerably cooler than the previous one it was in. We’re running an AMD 3500+ on stock air cooling. In the old case, the processor was running at roughly 32 C when idle, and 41 C under load. In the Silverstone TJ05, you can see it idling at 27 C. While in game, the processor went up to about 37 C.
