Project Sinister: Once Upon a Midnight Dreary - Lighting Up the Finished Mod

The mod lived up to its namesake and when illuminated certainly looked sinister. The curve on the side panel, a last minute decision, really worked out well and gave it a bit of an organic feel that the box shape and the plethora of harsh angles didn’t.

In the dark, the illumination was relatively good, but a second cold cathode would really help out to brighten it up further. The perforated steel still looked really good and the green cold cathode cast a rather ominous glow about the room really furthering the theme of the mod.

Finally, after much consternation and frustration during this project, Sinister was finished. Keeping the faux-chrome accents on the bezel proved to be a good gamble and helps to contribute to breaking up the square shape of the case. With everything said and done on the project, I’m satisfied with the result and am glad I decided to challenge myself with something that I had never done before with the suicide hinges. Modding, for me, is about pushing my talents and abilities further and further and not being afraid to try out new techniques. While it is rather intimidating and frustrating when a carefully planned project gets sidetracked because of unforeseen issues that arise it also very rewarding to succeed when faced with failure.

Now that Sinister is finished, it’s to set it aside and to start planning my next project. My world is mine to mod.
