Project Sinister: Once Upon a Midnight Dreary - Reassembling the Case Mod Continued

The rear fan was also installed with the finger guard grill. Originally I was planning on painting the finger guard gloss black, but decided that a flat black finish would allow it to blend in with the rear of the chassis rather than stick out awkwardly.

Once again the light spilling through the perforated steel from the cold cathode was quite exciting to see. The green cold cathode also lit up the interior of the chassis nicely and really gave a subtle highlight to all the raised surfaces.

The next step was to install the suicide hinges and the side panel. This was perhaps the longest step in assembling the finished mod because the nature of the number of bolts and nuts involved. I finger tightened all the nuts to the bolts and with very delicate precision tightened them with a screw driver and a pair of needle-nosed pliers. Once all the bolts were tightened on both the perforated steel and the hinges I attached the whole panel to the chassis.

With the mod nearly completely assembled I thought it was looking pretty good. The last thing I wanted was to see how the light filtered through the perforated steel on the side panel when the panel was closed and when the lights were off.
