    Maxtop CSX-7788KEB-Win Case Review

    A FEW SIMPLE MODS:

Lets start by getting rid of the things that I don't need, like the pre-made fan grills on this case. And how do I plan on doing that, well here is a pic that only a modder can love.

With the Dremel out of it's home, lets fire it up and put it to work. The first of the 4 pre-made fan grills that I will be attacking is the ones on the back, but first I need to take a few of extra steps here, like taking off the front bezel, just to make sure not metal shavings go hiding during the cutting process. Here is what the back side of the front Bezel looks like. You can see the wiring for the On/Off switch and the box for the Front USB Jacks. If you look up the side, the (Blue/White) wires you will see are the wiring for the LED's that light the front bubble tubes.

On with the the destruction..... :) Before I installed my system in this case, I wanted to make it as Air-Flow friendly as I could, as I stated above... I mean why install the goods and have to remove them again just to mod these holes I might as well do it know. In these pics you will see the removal of the pre-made fan grills and then you will see the AFTER, with a nice fan grill, and the led fan installed.

    BEFORE

    AFTER

Now don't that look so much nicer? And just to show you how much nicer it looks here is a few shots of the LED fans installed for your viewing enjoyment.

Told you that would look 100% better, and it does. Not only does it look a lot better, but the noise is reduced, and the air flow is increased. So we are killing 2 birds with one stone, or should I say 4 holes with one Dremel. Next I will be installing the Dual Tri-Colored Cathodes that was also sent along. These are the sound activated ones that mentioned previously. The control for the Cathode is mounted in the 5 1/4 slot. Since this a case review, I am not going to great detail on the cutting and mounting of this switch, that is if you want to mount the switch that way. Ok, back to the cathodes.... I will be mounting one at the top of the case and one at the bottom to maximize the use of the lights, Maxtop also supplied plenty of Velcro to help secure these cathodes anywhere you wish, I also used some of the Velcro to secure the cathode relay inside the drive bay out of view from the outside.

Now it's time to button this thing all up and show you the finished product.... Here is the Maxtop 7788 case with all the goodies installed in all it's GLORY!!... I think it turned out pretty good, besides the multi-colored cathodes and the bubble tubes on the front of the case, which I think is just a little much for my taste. She is looking good and will surely stand out at the next Lan Party you and your buddies attend. Here is a few parting shots for you to enjoy!!

    Conclusion:

Ok, so now its over and you probably think that I really liked this case. Well, yes and no. There is no perfect case out there for anyone, you have to make sacrifices in when buying a case, just like in real life. But for that budget minded peep out there who is scared of a dremel or just don't think they have the steady hand to cut and mutilate that new case than this case would fit you perfectly. I harp on the price, because for under $60 you get a nicely painted BLACK Aluminum case with Tinted Blue window and 2 Blowholes. Man, I have spent $60 on cut off wheels for my dremel in the past just to cut out windows, and another who knows how much on hole saws. So, I tip my hat to Maxtop for the quality and workmanship put into the mods on this case for a good price. So with out further ado lets end this my rambling and give you my final High's & Low's.

    Highs:

    • Light Weight

    • Great Paint Job

    • "BLUE" Tinted Window Mod

    • 2 Blow holes included

    • Front USB Ports

    • Power Supply Included

    • 3 to 4 pin adapter for Bubble Lights included

    • Removable motherboard tray

    Lows:

    • Hard Drive tray NOT Removable

    • No Rear Exhaust fans included

    • No Front Intake fans included

    • LED Fan's not used for Blowholes

Now some of you will say that the LOW'S were a little picky, and yes I would agree to some extent. But, when you putting together a Pre-Modded case all aspects should be looked at, not just a few. Depending on the system you install in this box, the 80mm side fan and the 92mm top fan may be sufficient cooling. But for most Overclockers, you will need to add a few fans to the front and rear of this case. And as I mentioned earlier, defiantly cut out those air restricting fan grills that are pressed into the case during manufacturing and add you a couple of nice OCA fan grills.

OCA would like to personally thank Maxtop for providing this Pre-Modded 7788 Model case to use for review. Make sure you head on over to Maxtop and see their other fine products that they produce and sell via Online Retailers.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the review. Feel free to head into the Forums for discussion, or stop by the Front Page and check out plenty of other GooSH!™ here at OCA
