Does your laptop lack personality? Are you worried about what will happen to it when it falls? Whether you want to add some fun to your machine or protect it from harm, this guide will help you find the right skins and cases to customize your laptop.
When you get a new laptop, the first thing that you do is customize it, whether or not you stop to think about what you are doing. Unless your laptop is on loan from your current employer, there is probably not another one exactly like it anywhere. Think about it: you delete the software that you do not want, you add in the software that you do need, change your wallpaper and your screen saver. Most likely you did it in the first few days of owning the laptop.
Of course, not all of those customizations are purely frivolous. The first two are very practical. All four of those customizations are, however, internal, and will do you no good if you need to find your laptop in a crowd or if you happen to drop it. Today we are going to take a look at some of the external customizations that you can make to your laptop. Just as the internal changes range from pure adornments to total practicality, so will the external ones. We will begin with the least practical of external customizations.
Laptop skins
For those of you who are less familiar with the concept of a laptop skin, think of it as a large vinyl sticker you can put on your laptop. Most of them will have only a sticker for only the top of the case, while others may also have internal stickers that will cover spaces such as the frame around the screen or the wrist rest.
Since they are made of heavy vinyl, they are usually re-usable, so that if, on Monday, you wake up and decide that you want to put your skin on upside down and then on Wednesday you want it right side up again, you can do that without fear of it losing its stickiness. Provided, of course that you don't go crazy and change its position for everyday for six months straight or get the adhesive wet.
Since these are the most variable, and the most expressive of the outward customizations, this will not be a one size fits all list. To make matters easier we will break up all of the skins by the type of personality you might find buying this laptop skin.
Please keep in mind that this is just a general category listing. There were lots of great skins that did not fit into one of the categories listed below. If you do not find exactly what you are looking for on this list, you should take a look around a decal site to see if you can find what you want. More than likely it is already out there. Even if it is not, you will easily be able to find a service that can help you to make a custom-designed skin with little to no extra costs.
Quirky and funky
