    CoolerMaster Wave Master Case

    Installation

Installation for me took longer than I expected, simply because I'm a neat freak and take every precaution possible to prevent damage to my hardware. The first thing I did was put in the PSU, which you saw earlier.

I then installed two CD drives, two hard drives, and a floppy drive. The face plates for each drive are easily unscrewed and removed.

The next order of business was of course, the motherboard and the rest of my components.

The motherboard tray, now rather heavy with all components screwed securely, slid into place without much effort; a true test of the Wave Master's near flawless design.

The pins on the Abit IS7 installed which are for the power switch, power led, etc., just barely overhang the bottom rail for the motherboard tray. The Wave Master case utilizes the following connections: 4pin speaker, 2pin power switch, 2pin reset switch, and 2pin hard drive (blue) LED.

The very last step was to hookup the top mounted connectors to the motherboard, which was no different than in any other case. Overall, the installation of components into the Wave Master case was flawless and couldn't have been better.

    Conclusion

The Wave Master case is definitely a nice addition to CoolerMaster's family of cases. What CoolerMaster has done is taken the basic chassis design of all their cases (which has been under numerous examinations and proven to be basically perfect), and fine tuned the front exterior of the case. The new wavy design as well as the use of blue LEDs thus gives the case its name, the Wave Master.

The case is excellently cooled, with two CoolerMaster intake fans in the front bottom, and one in the back. The removable motherboard tray is superb, the side panels come off without a hitch, and the PSU back plate works so well, it's something every case should utilize. I could go on forever, really, so why don't I just leave you with these pros and cons.

    Pros

    • Incredible case, both look and feel

    • Top-notch aluminum construction, is so heavy duty it feels bulletproof!

    • Removable motherboard tray, which couldn't be better

    • PSU installs from behind

    • Completely tool-less (lots of thumbscrews)

    • Blue HD LED

    • 2 Strong Blue LED's by the air intake for show

    • 2-fan intake, 1-fan exhaust, all included

    Cons

    • Expensive

    • No power LED

    • Although made of aluminum, not exactly a LAN oriented case

Those of you who are into windowed cases, have no fear. Currently there are three different windowed CoolerMaster side panels available for purchase online, compatible with the Wave Master. I will definitely be looking into one ASAP.

You now know everything about the CoolerMaster Wave Master case. Is it worth your hard-earned dough? Go by your first impressions of the case. If it was love at first sight, then you definitely will not be disappointed with it. If it didn't spark much interest, then the Wave Master's exterior probably won't satisfy your tastes. No matter what your preferences are, the Wave Master is an excellently built case, and it now sits as my main box.
